A few years ago, Jocelyn had the idea of starting an indie bookshop. Inspired by the writers around her, she wanted to create a place that supports indie authors. After some research, and discovering just how rich the independent book landscape in Canada is, she decided to focus her bookshop on Canadian authors (especially indie authors) and independent Canadian publishers.

The Bookshop 613 is an online-first indie bookshop based in Ottawa, ON. We’re an indie for indies, supporting Canadian authors and the incredible work coming out of Canada's independent publishers.

While you’ll always find us online, we do pop-up at markets, usually in the south-end of Ottawa, like Manotick or Greely. Whether you interact with us online or in person, we hope to make you feel welcome, introduce you to some amazing Canadian voices, and help you pick out your next great read.
